4 Steps To Effective Confessions
1. Prayer
And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and
cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak because they
knew him. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he
went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. And
Simon and they that were with him followed after him. And when they had
found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. And he said unto
them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for
therefore came I forth. And he preached in their synagogues throughout
all Galilee, and cast out devils. — Mark 1:34-39
-
Say back to God His will/Word ...thy kingdom come thy will be done... — Matthew 6:10
-
Locate His will before you pray ...ask anything according to His will... — I John 5:14
-
Know there is one answer ...all promises yes and amen... — II Corinthians 1:20
2. Fasting
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad
countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto
men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou,
when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou
appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret:
and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. —
Matthew 6:16-18
3. Faith
But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this
wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is,
to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep?
(that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it?
The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is,
the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him
shall not be ashamed. — Romans 10:6-11
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. — Romans 10:17
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the
ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much
fruit. — John 12:24
And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye
mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be
given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not,
from him shall be taken even that which he hath. And he said, So is the
kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And
should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and
grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of
herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the
ear. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the
sickle, because the harvest is come. — Mark 4:24-29
And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying,
Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What
is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou
shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as
thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and
thou shalt live. — Luke 10:25-28
4. Speak (Powerful Confession)
Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them,
Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. I have many
things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I
speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. They
understood not that he spake to them of the Father. Then said Jesus
unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know
that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath
taught me, I speak these things. And he that sent me is with me: the
Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please
him. — John 8:25-29
- Lack of confidence is evident when instead of confessing we are
questioning our faith, questioning the Word and its origin being from
God.
- Jesus answers their doubt by presenting His confidence. He caused
is belief to rub off on them instead of allowing their doubt to cause
Him to turn.
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he
asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias;
and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But
whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the
Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto
him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not
revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also
unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my
church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will
give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou
shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. — Matthew 16:13-19
- Spending time with Jesus – the Word – causes us to root out the
voices of others and hone in on God as a sheep hearing His voice.
- Gives us confidence to make a bold confession
- Our confession brings an empowerment from God with the backing of heaven (Heb. 10:35-36)
And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the
fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering
saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That
whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou
cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe
that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have
whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye
desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have
them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any:
that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your
trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is
in heaven forgive your trespasses. — Mark 11:21-26
